COVID-19 Pandemisinde Kulak Burun Boğaz Hastalıkları Bakış Açısı ve Hasta Yönetimi

Bu yazı, “Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)” pandemi döneminde Kulak Burun Boğaz (KBB) hastalıkları açısından hastaların değerlendirilmesi ve alınabilecek tedbirleri içermektedir. Bu amaçla mevcut literatür “COVID-19 otolaringoloji”, “COVID-19 rinoloji” ve “COVID-19 cerrahi” gibi anahtar kelimeler kullanılarak taranmıştır. Yazıda ayrıca pandemi sürecinde hastanemize başvurmuş hastalara ait KBB pratiğine özgü semptomlarla ilgili verilere de yer verilmiştir. Hayatın tüm alanlarını etkileyen COVID-19 virüsü tüm sağlık alanlarını olduğu gibi KBB pratiğini de etkilemiştir. Hastalığın ateş, öksürük, nefes darlığı gibi klasik semptomlarının yanında özellikle erken dönemlerinde ani koku ve tat kaybı olabileceği de bildirilmiştir. Salgın sürecinde elektif müdahalelerin ertelenmesi, acil ve kanser olgularının uygun koşullarda alınabileceği önerilmektedir. Bu amaçla sağlık çalışanlarının özellikle aerosol kaynaklı bulaş riskinin yüksek olduğu müdahalelerde gerekli koruyucu önlemleri alması gerekmektedir. Bunun dışında COVID-19 hastaları için mümkünse ayrı bir operasyon salonunun oluşturulması ve dezenfeksiyon kurallarına dikkat edilmesi gerekmektedir. Sonuç olarak, her ne kadar COVID-19 ile ilgili bilgiler her geçen gün yenileniyor olsa da mevcut deneyimlerin günlük işleyişe uyarlanması hastalığın yayılmasını önleyerek morbiditenin azalmasına katkıda bulunacaktır.

Otorhinolaryngology Perspective and Patient Management in COVID-19 Pandemic

This review includes the evaluation of patients and measures to be taken in terms of ear, nose and throat (ENT) diseases during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic period. For this purpose, the current literature has been searched using keywords such as “COVID-19 otolaryngology”, “COVID-19 rhinology” and “COVID-19 surgery”. The review also includes data on symptoms specific to ENT practice of patients who admitted to our hospital during the pandemic period. The COVID-19 virus, which affects all areas of life, has affected the ENT practice as well as in all health areas. It has been reported that the disease has classic symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, as well as a sudden loss of smell and taste, especially in the early stages of the disease. It is suggested that elective interventions, emergency and cancer cases can be performed in appropriate conditions during the outbreak. For this purpose, healthcare professionals should take necessary protective measures especially in interventions where the risk of transmission from aerosol is high. Apart from that, a separate operation room should be created for COVID-19 patients if possible and attention should be paid to disinfection rules. As a result, although information about COVID-19 is being updated every day, adapting existing experiences to daily practice will contribute to the reduction of morbidity by preventing the spread of the disease.
