We examined the files of head trauma patients hospitalized in our intensive care unit (ICU) retrospectively. According to datum we obtained from 209 files the most frequent reason of head traumas are traffic accidents. Our trial shows that initial Glasgow Coma Score, existence of cranial mass lesions, the localization and number of mass lesions effects mortality and morbidity. We conclude that developments in patient transport systems, appropriate initial intervention at the trauma-site, increase of equipment and staff of ICU and increase of the number of specific head-trauma ICU will decrease mortality rates of head trauma.
