A case of diaphragm rupture in a 27-year-old male secondary to blunt abdominal trauma is reported. Diaphragmatic rupture occurs in 0.8 % to 8 f1io of patients after blunt traumas. The rupture occurs on the left in about 60 f1io to 75 % of cases. Respiratory distress and decreased breath sounds are the consistent but not pathognomonic clinical findings for diaphragm rupture. The rupture has to be repaired with nonabsorbable monofilament sutures. Atelectasis is the most common postoperalive complication.
