POTENTIAL VISUAL ACUITY EVALUATION WITH POTENTIAL ACUITY METER IN PENETRATING KERATOPLASTY

The potential visual acuity of the 59 eyes which underwent penetrating keratoplasty was predicted by PAM preoperatively. The visual acuities which were obtained l to 14 months postoperatively were compared with potential acuities. in the 6 of the 21 eyes with excessive corneal edema and opacity the visual acuity could be accurately predicted. In the 21 of the 38 eyes with limited corneal edema and opacity a total concordance was obtained between the potential and Snellen visual acuities. In predicting the visual acuity after penetrating keratoplasty, a significant success is obtained by PAM in the eyes with limited corneal edema and opacity.

PENETRAN KERATOPLASTİLERDE POTANSİYEL GÖRMENİN PAM İLE DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Penatran keratoplasti geçiren 59 gözün potansiyel görmesi ameliyat öncesinden Potential Acuity Meter (PAM) ile araştırılmıştır. Ameliyattan 1 ile 4 ay sonraki dönemde ölçülen görmeler potansiyel görmelerle karşılaştırılmıştır. Korneal ödemin veya kesafetin aşırı olduğu 21 gözün 6'sında (%28.5) görme, PAM ile önceden doğru olarak saptanmıştır. Korneal ödemin veya kesafetin sınırlı olduğu 38 gözün 21'inde (%55.2) ise potansiyel görmeler ile Snellen görmeler arasında tam bir uyum elde edilmiştir. Penatran keratoplasti sonrası görmeyi belirlemede korneal ödemin veya kesafetin sınırlı olduğu gözlerde PAM ile anlamlı bir basan sağlanmıştır.
